What is the difference between a pump gun and a semi automatic gun?

Pump guns must me manually cocked between each shot. A semi automatic recocks automatically between shots. A player simply pulls the trigger when he/she wants to fire a paintball. Pump guns are a bit more difficult to use than semi automatics based on the fact that they have to manually cocked each time they are fired. Semi autos are simpler to use than pump guns and allow greater rates of fire (more balls fired per minute) than pump guns.

When I rent a gun what else is usually included?

When you rent a gun you are also given protective headgear consisting of specially designed paintball goggles and facemask. The headgear protects player’s eyes, ears, face and temples. Some fields also give free CO2 refills to renters while playing.

Can I bring my own paintballs to game fields?

No. Any paintballs used at fields must be purchased from that field. However, players may bring unused paintballs purchased at that field back for use another day.

What should I wear to play paintball?

Players should wear long pants and long sleeve shirts. All clothing should be comfortable and loose fitting. You will be doing a lot of running around on the playing fields so dress comfortably. Players should wear comfortable shoes with good ankle support and good traction such as hiking boots or high top athletic shoes (football spikes are an excellent choice). Be sure to dress for the weather. Fields play paintball rain or shine unless severe or threatening weather conditions exist.

What happens when I arrive at a field to play paintball?

Each player is required to fill out and sign a liability waiver. Players under the age of 18 are required to have a parent’s signature on our waiver form. Once you have completed your waiver form you turn it in at the registration window where it will be checked for accuracy, and given back to you. You will then take your waiver form to the equipment/paint window and turn it in. At that point you will be given any equipment you rented, and you may purchase paintballs. Once your group has been issued equipment all players will be required to attend a mandatory safety orientation explaining all safety rules and proper equipment usage. The safety briefing takes approximately 15 minutes. The first safety briefing of the day usually takes place at 9:00am, and is repeated as new players arrive. Upon completion of the safety briefing players are divided into teams and taken out to the playing fields for games.

How long do games last?

Individual games last between 5 minutes and 20 minutes on average depending on the type of game, number of players, and scenario involved. Players will go out to the playing fields for 2 to 4 games at a time, and will be on the field for 30 to 60 minute intervals. After the completion of a set of games players return to the staging area for a short break, resupply of paint, etc.

How many games does an admission fee cover?

Admission is a flat fee for the day. Your fee covers all games you play the entire day.

How many paintballs will I shoot in a day?

This is the most common question asked, and the most difficult to answer. This number varies based on the type on gun you have, as well as your style of play. Some players can go all day on just a few hundred paintballs, while others will shoot hundreds in a single game. On average a player with a rental pump gun will shoot 500 to 700 paintballs in an 8 hour playing session, while a player with a rental semi will shoot between 500 and 1000 paintballs in an 8 hour playing session. Keep in mind these are only averages-Your group may shoot more or less.

Can we bring our own guns and equipment to use at game fields?

Yes, many players use their own equipment. The game fields reserve the right to inspect all equipment used at the field to insure it meets safety standards. All personal paint guns are required to have trigger guards, and must meet the field velocity limit of 280 fps. Barrel plugs are required at all times in all areas of the park except the target range and playing fields. No fully automatic paint guns are allowed to be used at some fields. Paint guns capable of fully automatic fire must be able to be locked into semi automatic mode (1 trigger pull and release equals 1 shot) to be allowed on the playing fields. Personal headgear must be specifically designed for paintball, free of damage, and unaltered. Personal CO2 and compressed air cylinders must have current hydrotest stickers affixed in order to be filled at the field.
